# Amber Did a Thing > Art, Knitting, Food and Simple Pleasures ## Posts - [Ahi Tuna Bowl](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=413): My attempt to imitate one of my favorite dishes from Yaga’s on the Strand in Galveston, the Ahi Tuna bowl. If you don’t want to try making it, feel free to go visit them. You won’t be disappointed. Jasmine rice topped with seared Ahi tuna, roasted veggie mix, ginger, lemon juice and Siracha mayo. Roast veggies tossed in olive oil, salt & pepper on baking sheet at 400 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. Any type of veggies will work. Yaga’s uses brussel sprouts. In my version I used A package of Ready Veggies from Trader Joe’s. I think roasted broccoli […] - [Lavaca Sweater](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=298): Finally finished my Lavaca sweater. Not a fast knit as it is in a fingering weight silk yarn, but I LOVE it! This one is going to be a favorite that gets LOTS of wear. Perfect for a hot climate like we have where I live. Found this pattern while searching Ravelry for patterns using Purl SoHo’s Cattail Silk as I had 2 skeins in stash that I had picked up on sale. This sweater was just what I had in mind, and I love it. It is a raglan style sweater knitted in the round top down. Knitted up […] - [Ranunculus Pattern by Midori Hirose](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=284): I didn’t really want to jump on the trend of this pattern, but I did…and there is a reason it is sooooooo popular. Faster sweater ever. It simply flew off my needles, and was so much fun. Then I just had to do a repeat. Have another planned for this winter too. First version shown is knitted in Cotton Pure by Purl Soho. Second is in a lovely superwash merino hand-dyed sock weight yarn by Oak & Fiber. These sweaters never fail to get compliments and are a pleasure to wear. If you have wondered about what all the fuss […] - [Black Beans & Eggs](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=205): Mine doesn’t look as pretty as the inspiration dish by Jamie Oliver. Maybe I need more practice, but it tasted delicious. A great dish from scratch or a wonderful way to use some leftover beans. Pretty sure it would be tasty with other kinds of beans too. Also available in this cookbook: Jamie Oliver 5 Ingredients Pg 89 “All-Day Mexican Breakfast”. Substitutions made: Now to practice cooking prettier eggs. If you have tips for that, please share! I don’t share any links for items I haven’t purchased and personally used. - [Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day…Zoe Francois](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=164): Baked a thing…fresh bread with minimum work! It’s not my recipe so I’m sharing some links to the information below for you. 🙂 Jeff Hertzberg and Zoë François’s method is amazingly simply and so convenient. I get annoyed with myself when I let my fridge batch run out. I first learned about this method watching Zoe Bakes Season 1, Episode 10. I was like “Wha? It CAN’T be that simple.” Guess what! It is! Try it. You will be amazed. The recipe is linked below to try for free. Like a I said I tried it the first time just […] - [Big News...the TinCan is looking for a new owner!](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=121): Hard to say this but the time has come for the TinCan to continue her journey with someone new and let them have the joy of learning all the things she taught me. Eight years we’ve been together and I’ve loved calling her my home. I will miss her dearly, but sometimes the right decisions aren’t necessarily the easiest. As hard as it is to let her go, I know this is the right decision and hope she makes her next owner as happy as she made me. If you are interested read on for the details. 1970 Airstream Sovereign […] - [Stir Fry Broccoli and Mushrooms](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=42): [vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][image_with_animation image_url=”64″ animation=”Fade In” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”center” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][vc_column_text] 1 tbsp olive oil 2 tsp minced ginger 2 garlic cloves minced dash of red pepper flakes 1 lb broccoli florets 10 oz sliced mushrooms 2 tbsp soy sauce (Trader Joe’s low-sodium is my favorite) 2 tbsp rice vinegar Cashews 1/4 cup water INSTRUCTIONS: In a large wok or non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil over […] - [It's Been a While...](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=48): Happy Sunday Dear friend, It’s been a while. Sorry I haven’t kept in touch. Haven’t been sure how to start this back up, but then I decided that I didn’t know how to start it up last time either…So I’m just going to jump in and see where this writing journey goes. It was fun last go around, so here I go again. Will see where this takes us. Hope you decide to follow along again. Not going to spend a lot of time trying to catch up, but here is a quick update: It’s now been 7.5 years living […] - [New Site in Progress...](https://amberdidathing.com/?p=1): Due to excessive cost of my previous hosting provider and the amount of time needed to migrate the old site, I decide to print the posts on it to PDF for my own memories and start over fresh here.
